After weeks of reading documentation, I’ve started building a wiki over the past few days, hence my lacking in real posts. Most of the major site-breaking incidents should be behind me. I hope. Mediawiki is a powerful beast, but in order to have the full functionality that you see on large wikis like Wikipedia, you have to add a lot of addons that don’t come out of the box–even to get things like footnotes and templates to work. Blame the parser functions.
However, that’s not the reason for this post. Today I enabled the ability to request an account. So if you want to speculate and search for the wiki, go ahead and search. If you fit the demographic and the topic of the wiki, you deserve to have an account. Especially if you’re a wizard with Mediawiki templates. Not that I’m biased or anything.
A real announcement about this wiki will come when there’s a little more flesh on the site.
