I’ve never been able to sit and do nothing. After a few minutes thoughts start flying through my mind, and I usually run with them and try to catch them. I even attended a mindfulness session and took a yoga course as an attempt to learn to calm myself (and okay, to fulfill a PE requirement). Nothing helped, especially when I kept getting good story ideas and refused to let my mind shut up because my mind was supposed to be shutting up.
Lifehacker must have had me in mind when they presented a guide to meditation this morning. Like Festivus, this guide is for the rest of us. I’ll keep you updated, assuming I don’t give up after one session.
