Amazon just announced a new Kindle for preorder. I’ve never been a fan of ereaders, having always preferring books made from dead trees for a real reading experience. The new Kindle is almost tempting, though. It’s smaller and lighter and it can hold all those classic books that I bought in high school just to look pretentious but never actually read. A lot of those are in the public domain, which means free! You can even get a Kindle with 3G, and you don’t even have to pay for a contract for 3G services. Don’t say it, don’t say it–Take that, AT&T. Whoops. If Amazon actually supported the .epub format, I’d bump that up to actually tempting, but I’m not succumbing to a file format that only one company uses. Sorry, Kindle.
