I had my first NaNo get-together today. This was my first NaNo in this region since before it officially existed. It did go well, even though I didn’t get any actual planning done. Ah well. I knew I wouldn’t get any planning done anyway; the pantser in me would never allow that. I also got to meet one my adopted newbies, who happens to be in my region. This was a complete coincidence that I noticed when looking at her profile. Making those connections is always fun.
The other Wrimos did help me decide on a genre for my primary novel: speculative fiction. This is a good thing. I can finally put my novel in a box, or at least explain it to others when they ask.
Just over a week until NaNo begins!

Awesome! The first nano event in my area is on Wed. I can’t wait. From one pantser to another, glad you got your genre figured out. I’m hoping I can get some names soon for my poor, homeless characters. ^_^ Happy Nano!
@scarletfury I do have a genre, so hooray! My characters are also nameless, so I feel your pain there. Happy NaNo to you too!
Intriguing…explain this NaNo to me…
@jmatthicks This is NaNo: http://www.nanowrimo.org You write a novel of at least 50,000 words (around 175 pages, so a pretty short novel) in November. It doesn’t even have to be good. You just pound out that first draft in a month to get the draft out of the way so you can edit it later. Do it. You know you want to.
@sushi @jmatthicks It was definitely tempting…I do enjoy writing…
@jmatthicks It’s day two. You can definitely catch up. People join much later in the month and still win, so give it a try!
