Today I came up with a new writing challenge for when you’re stuck: The Prime Number Challenge. Here’s how it works.
1. Look at your current word count.
2. If it’s below 104729, find the next largest number on this prime number list. If your current word count is above 104729, well, there are probably other lists out there.
3. Write until you reach that number. This may be one word or forty, but it won’t be that many.
I like this challenge because it’s easy, and you find yourself writing only a few sentences at a time, making it particularly great for those days when you really don’t want to write. If all goes well you’ll find yourself writing to reach the next hundred or the next thousand and ignoring that list altogether. If you get stuck you can always come back to that list.
