Today was a great day for interesting links, so let’s declare tonight to be linkspam night.
A ten-year-old girl discovered a supernova. This makes her the youngest person to discover a supernova. She’s definitely getting her interest in science off on the right foot, which is a great thing. I hope she maintains it.
A new edition of Huckleberry Finn is going to eliminate the n-word in the text. I wish I were kidding. Clearly the editors of this text think editing one text for racist terms is going to make the world a better place, not to mention ignore the historical context of the novel. Lovely. Let’s hope this edition doesn’t stick.
You know how restaurant websites are, as a rule, terrible? Here are some things you never hear about restaurant websites.
There were some really thick books published in 2010, but can one of those books take a bullet? A couple of folks put some recent books to the test and add a Kindle to the mix. This gives me even less faith in ereaders.
Josh Groban sings Kanye West’s tweets. Not much commentary needed here except awesome.
And finally, an announcement: if you’re in the United States, you have three more days to file your taxes this year thanks to Emancipation Day in Washington, D.C. This happened in 2007, but I didn’t know or care about it then, probably because I didn’t make enough money that year to worry about it. It’d be interesting to see how many people file in those extra days and if it’s any different from the rates at which people file in the last few days in normal years. Don’t be a slacker just because you have three more days, though. Everyone else will be doing the same thing.
