You may have heard of Garfield Minus Garfield, where Garfield the cat is removed from Garfield comics and Jon Arbuckle turns out to be talking to himself. Jon turns out to be a sad and lonely guy with only Garfield and Odie for company.
You can do similar things to other comics with great effect. Of note is 3eanuts, or Peanuts minus the last panel. The humor in the regular strip is always in the last panel, so removing that panel leaves a much more depressing comic than the original.
I think I need happy things now, or at least funny comic manipulations.
