Camp NaNoWriMo is coming!

Summer camp time is almost here! I never went to camp when I was a kid unless Jesus camp counts, and most of these camps were surprisingly fun despite all the services. I never even slept in a tent until this year, and rain and cold were involved then. That’s not the greatest introduction to tent sleeping, is it?

At a yet-to-be-determined time this summer I’ll get to go to camp again. Camp NaNoWriMo, to be specific. Camp NaNo is a month to write a novel that isn’t November and is run by the Office of Letters and Light, the same folks who run NaNoWriMo. There are campfire songs, bears, and novel-writing. Lots and lots of writing. Or will be, because camp hasn’t actually started yet.

But that’s why the Camp and Guts donation drive is going on right now: to finish setting up camp and to move the NaNo site away from Drupal to Ruby on Rails. (Can we get a HOORAY from anyone who has ever had to deal with the Drupal guts of the NaNo site?) This switchover just might mean a new site design just in time for lucky NaNo 13 and my tenth NaNo.

In order for all these exciting changes to happen, donations need to come in! There are donor goodies for those who give at least $50, along with donor-only pep talks for the first time ever at every donor level. Are you excited? I’m excited. The goodies are there until they’re gone, so snatch yours up while they’re still there!

Now the important question: is it too early to pack for camp?
