What’s a great way to waste time online? Sure, you could read or watch videos or play games or poke your friends on Facebook (or Google+ if that’s your thing these days), or you could blow the site up by Asteroids in your browser. I had a ton of fun Asteroiding the homepage of Fox News this afternoon after discovering this. I had nearly blanked the entire page before someone pointed me toward a Katamari Damacy game in any website. Start it up on any webpage and suck up the entire page in a huge ball. This one’s more fun to do on pleasant websites thanks to the background music.
If you’re not into video game spinoffs, here’s a game that plays on a page’s webdesign: Websplat. The object of the game is to hop between elements of a page, collect all the images, and kill the bad guys while not getting killed by them. For some pages this is harder than it sounds. The Wikipedia homepage is pretty challenging, and the NaNoWriMo website isn’t easy either. I haven’t tried this site or Wikiwrimo, but I’m guessing both of them are quite easy because of their lack of pictures. You’ll want to try a webpage again if you don’t succeed the first time, so it can be a time suck.
Disclaimer: I’m not responsible for any time wasted on these games. Okay, maybe I am. But it’s Friday, right?
